Washing cloths:

Large stone tables with a water trough or tub along side are very common.  The types vary across provinces but is a standard component in many homes.  The cloths are beat on the table.  Almost everyone in China washes cloths with cold water.  Most women do small loads of laundry every 2-3 days.
