This tree is right in the middle of the lane. The sign in Chinese is a warning about the tree being there and to be careful. Obviously this is a special tree. The tree is old enough that it was there when this was a small one lane dirt country road without motor vehicles. For some reason over the years as the road was widened and updated the tree was never cut down. It has been hit many times and 4 spots with severe impacts but still left there. It is without question a very special tree.
My road friend. We met on a mountain road. He was obviously geared up for the long haul which was very unusual. After kibitzing for a bit I found out he was from two provinces to the north and been on a long trip south, a 1500 kilometer loop. We rode together for two days but would leap frog each other as I would stop for many pictures. I intended to go to a city where his uncle was but we got split up at a city with a maze of bad roads.
