RT 319 varies along its length from a fast 4 lane very close to big cities to a path up in the mountains. Even in the rough sections trucks and passenger busses use 319 as there is no reasonable alternative routes. When the road is blocked because of washouts and construction then very long alternate routes must be taken. This year there was a lot of rain so the road was very bad with many washouts so about 75 kilometers was impassable by vehicles other than motorcycles.
This section was still usable by large vehicles but many get stuck. I could just barely walk by the smaller truck because of the steep drop on that side. I could not sneak my motorche by on that side so had to wait until the trucks got unstuck.
This is typical for about 50 km on 310 in Chongqing. Many vechicles getting stuck and the local farmers digging out vehicles.
