Road Building: The views are of some big and small rock crushing operations. Road repair is constant due to the instability of the mountains and not putting down a proper base for roads. Every 10-15 kilometers there's a place cut out of the mountain to get rocks to crush for the gravel road base. Small work vehicles which are tractor engines attached to a small trailer back up to the crushers and get a load. The pickup is 1/2 to 1 ton and they bring it to the construction site. All along RT 319 these work vehicles are running up and down the road getting gravel; it's constant. Below is a single crusher which is the norm. This site is not out on the highway but in the small village of Liang He. A few guys are cutting away a section of the mountain to make a place to build a house. The rock will be sold to road builders close by.
There were several sections of express ways being built alont RT 319. What looks like a path below is an expressway. The white sections are cement retaining wall to hold back the mount which is either unstable rock or dirt. Because of the topography ridges must be cut away to make a fast straight expressway. The retaining walls are not lagged into the mountain but just a flat layer of cement or rocks cementer together then faced with a thin layer of cement. The walls hold back the unstable ridge for a while but sooner or later crack and crumble in the rainy season so upgrade and repair is constant.
