Firecrackers at Spring Festival celebrations:

Firecrackers are the excitement of Spring Festival.  They are going off everywhere all month long but crescendo on the last week.  During the last day it gets crazy all over the city.  During the Lion and Lung dances which snake through the enclave the firecrackers are going off constantly.  As the dancers go by they get lit off but everyone has plenty to spare so all over the place the noise is constant for about an hour. 

During the day people are lighting off firecrackers but a favorite is lighting them off in the cement hallways of the high-rises.  They echo through out the halls and have quite an effect.  They are purchased in rolls of 100 to a few thousand firecrackers.
