| The Work and Jobs page: This page about working, what jobs are like and how to get a job. The purpose is to share experiences so others can get a better understanding about the world of work. These pages contain the writing of students and former students who are now working. Dull, average and boring are all very interesting. See detail below: EVERYTHING IS INTERESTING TO SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT KNOW
The detail: Work Experiences: This is for writing about your experiences. Students don't know what work is like or what jobs are like. You that have experienced working can pass that information to others to help them out. What is it like, the good and the bad, both are interesting to know about. What is the pay, the living conditions? What is it like everyday? What is your boss like and fellow workers? Getting a job while in school: How did you get your job? What things did you do? What was your interview like? How was the process? Getting or transferring jobs after school: Many people are not happy in teaching or business and look for other jobs? What did you do? What were your experiences? Part time jobs while at university: How did you get a job while at universtiy? What did you do and what happened? Was it good, bad, interesting? Life in the city: What's it like in the cities? You wanted to work in the glitz cities. What's it like? Was it what you thought, better or worse? Life outside the big cities: There are lots of places outside the big coastal cities. Are you in a city, town or village and what is it like? This is where most people are. What's it like? How to write up your information: Everything is private if you want. The goal is to get honest feedback so people and understand things better. If you pass on what has happened to you others will know more and can make better decisions. Write an email to trouts2@gmail.com. I will put it on the website. You can write anything about what you have experienced. You don't have to give your name in the email if you want or where you are. It will all be secret if you want. You can also list your name if you want. Others might want to contact you to say hello, share experiences or information. Here is how to write up your letter: 1. Put the category you want your letter to go in. One of the following:
2. Your personal information, like name, contact information and location can be included or not. If you include it but do not want it known it will not be put on the website. It will be secret/private. 3. Write up any experience, the good, the bad, the horrible, the happy. Write about anything as long as it's real. 4. You're letter will be posted to the right place for others to read. They will be posted by date, with the latest post at the top. 5. Any feedback about all of this is welcome. QUESTIONS: You can also ask questions to any of the above section if you are curious about something and looking for information. SUGGESTIONS: What's it like translating at a business job? What was different than you expected? Did you have to learn things you did not expect? What was new and different? What was expected? Was it just like you imagined and easy? What are your living conditions like, pay or anything else related to your job. How is the social interaction at work? What learning experiences does the company have? What must you learn?
